Ephesians 5:1-2  Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

The standard of living for every believer is Christ.  Paul said to the Ephesians to be God's follower but John 1:18 says no man hath seen God at anytime; Then how do we imitate him that we have not seen. But John 1:18 continued and said but the only begotten son, which is in the bossom of the father he hath declared him.
This means that Jesus is the perfect reflection of God we can only see God  or follow God in Christ Jesus.  So when Philip said unto Jesus, lord, show us the father and it sufficeth us.
Jesus said unto him, Have I been so long time with you and you don't know me, Phillip?
He that hath seen me at seen the father.  So, Christ is God in flesh.  So indirectly Eph 5:1 is saying be followers of God taking the life and words of Christ as your standard to live.  So in character, in word, in appearance, lifestyle e.t.c. We must look exactly like Christ, which is the real definition of a Christian (Christ like), Christians are those who act like the lord Jesus. Anyone who is a follower of God, will only do the things Christ instructed and will not go against or relax or stress the instructions of the Lord.
The salvation of a believer can be confirmed in two ways. In the spirit and in the physical.
In the spirit by the seal of promise which is the holyghost and in the physical by the expression or working according to the dictates of the spirit within you.

Ephesians 4:20-32
But you did not learn Christ in this way,
if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,
that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,
and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.
Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
and do not give the devil an opportunity.
He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
