Does God tempts people

A lot of times when bad and evil things befall people, friends and family come to sympathize with them and tell them to take heart and endure, that Abraham was tempted and job passed through more than that also anyone can experience that even our Lord Jesus Christ was tempted and they will conclude the sayings with,  it's God tempting you, do not waver in faith he will replenish you. But this is a wrong consolation message because God's temps no man. It is true that Abraham, Job and Jesus was tempted, but can we say it is God who tempted them? Can God tempt people with evil?  Let's check through scriptures to understand better.  But before that we should have a basic understanding of what temptation is.

What is temptation?

Temptation is the pressure applied to your thinking designed to create wrong emotions which will eventually lead to wrong actions.  A desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise. Yielding to temptation as a believer makes you disobey God.  God loves everyone and desires that all men should obey and trust in him. So do you now think God can put you through stuffs that will make you disobey him.  Take a look at this scenario, your dad is so disciplined and he hates seeing water spill on the floor especially in the room  It annoys him. One day your dad carried a bowl of water and placed It at the entrance so if you come in you can mistakenly throw the water on the ground. Does that even make any sense? That's what happens when you say God tempts men.

God didn't tempt Jesus, job and Abraham. Let's establish that in scriptures.

Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

The spirit of God led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil not of God., It's possible to be led into temptation. that is why the Lord's Prayer say lead us not into temptation it is a Prayer to avoid God's leading into temptation

1 Corinthians 10:13 There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that all of you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that all of you may be able to bear it.

Temptation comes when men are lured by the flesh, the devil and the world system. Desiring the things that God does not support will make men grow in lust for those things and lust brings temptation, falling into temptation brings sin and sin brings death.  In the case of job, the devil saw that job is upright and he believed that it was as a result of God's blessings around him, but God trusted job that's why he permitted the devil to tempt job, he didn't tempt Job.

James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man.

Many people will say that in the case of Abraham. God tempted him.

Genesis 22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

The word tempt in the Hebrew rendition is "Nasah"  which means to test, prove, or try. So God did not tempt Abraham he only tested Abraham's faith.   So in conclusion God does not tempt people.
