After reading this, you'll understand why your past misfortunes have been allowed.
I love Apostle Paul for one thing, he was the kind of man that gave a lot of details about the Christian faith. In one of his epistles, he said "From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus" (Galatians 6:17)
NIV puts it this way.
"From now on, don't let anyone trouble me with these things. For I bear on my body the scars that shows I belong to God"
Take note of his choice of words,...the scars that shows I belong to God. So, there are scars that show that you belong to God? How do these scars come about? Why do I need to have these scars?
Apostle Paul's life answers these questions. Remember, Paul was a persecutor and later when He got saved, he was persecuted for the sake of the Gospel.
The persecutions were his scars. Enduring persecution made it obvious that he belonged to God. So, when talking about circumcision in verse 15, he said that's not what's important. What's important is that we've been transformed into a new creation. Therefore, he seemed to be saying, "no one should disturb me with the issue of circumcision. I have scars that shows that I belong to God". (Galatians 6:15-16, paraphrased)
In other words, traditions and religion are not what shows that we belong to God. It's the scars.
That sickness that nearly took your life but you endured it till God showed up did something to you. It gave you a Scar!
That season of affliction that made you feel as if you should end everything affected you in one way, it gave you a Scar!
That period of loneliness where you seemed like the poor little invisible lady or guy. You got a Scar.
What about when money wasn't coming from anywhere and you had all the opportunities to make money illegally but you didn't? You got a Scar too.
When you were in the field minding your father's business and putting your life on the line to deal with any wild animal that may want to hurt the sheeps in your care. You became scarred as well
Even demons respect these scars. So, when they come with their ugly heads trying to harm you, the moment they see those scars that is, your season of endurance for Christ, they tremble.
In this Kingdom, Ruggedity is our Identity.
That is, when we remain unyielding, unbending and firm for Christ, we are identifying with him.
As we are getting scarred yet unyielding, we begin to conform to the image of Christ who endured all pain to give rise to salvation.
Your molestation was painful and it gave you a Scar but that you can still read this is a sign that God is not done with you. That you remained rugged is a proof that beauty is coming out of your ashes. You are just the child of God, your Father. Your ruggedity has proved that.
Listen please, while we are enduring that pain, while we are having those heart wrenching experiences, we may not know that a giant is being formed out of us.
Oh Jesus! The cub is transforming into a lion but it's not aware that's happening. The pain of hurt, regrets, heartbreaks, defeat and shame are so overwhelming that we may not notice we are getting changed. Transformation is taking place and we do not know it.
The Scar is what forms us.
The Scar is what shapes us into Christ's image.
The Scar is how we identify with Christ.
Our Scars give us a voice in the place of assignment.
Our Scars have a space to fill in our spiritual Curriculum Vitae(CV). It's a proof that we were trained for our spiritual assignment. This is one of the reasons why your assignment or life purpose could be found in the area where you got hurt or broken.
The scars show that we mean business too. God chose us first but when tempted to remove him out of the picture, we will not yield.
The world today presents us with options but we know we have just one option because we have eliminated all options and we are left with God. So, it's either we do God or we do God!
No warrior does not have a Scar.
So, do you have any?
Have you always been compromising God's standards in the face of challenges?
You see, you may not have heard it before. Having no Scar, that is having no record of choosing to identify with God in the face of challenges, is a proof that you are not ready for your life assignment.
Fulfilling one's life assignment is not just done by accepting Jesus as Saviour (though that is very important). It's done by aligning to the perfect will of God.
As you grow, alignment comes with Scars too.
So, you can't be an aligned man yet you are without Scar.
If you go through the Scripture, you'll find stories of men who were scarred to. So, getting scarred is not unique to you neither is it unique to me. It's seen on the pages of Scripture as well.
Even the psalmist said “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Thy statutes,” (Psalm 119:71).
NIV puts it this way: "My suffering was good for me for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees".
In the times when you are being scarred, you are sober. God can speak to you, your mind is not on too many things. You are not distracted because you've been broken.
It will cost God nothing to just take you to your place of assignment without stress but you won't function there because you haven't been trained.
How do you preach healing when you haven't been healed?
How can you tell a depressed person to not loose his joy when you've lost yours?
The Scar is more of a medium that God uses to get men ready for Kingdom business.
Will it be easy?, No.
Will it be painful?, Yes.
Will it break you?, Yes.
Will you feel as though no one cares about you?, Yes.
Will it feel as if God is being mean to you?, Yes.
But will it change you? A big Yes!
Will you get transformed?, A bigger Yes!
Will you be rewarded for your endurance?, An unshaking Yes!
Strive to see that you endure and have this Scar. The afflictions of this present time are nothing to be compared to the joy that is set before us.
God has blessed you.
