What it means to read or study the Bible

The confusion about studying and reading the Bible.

  The English reading and studying did not cause any problem but when it comes to the Bible you will see people arguing all over Facebook groups WhatsApp groups even in churches. The only thing that will help you stop argument is the perfect understanding of something.

Quickly, let's dive into this: many people said Paul said in Timothy, study to show yourself approved that's why we should study and not read the Bible also that reading only make you know the scriptures by heart and you can't be transformed by it.

Some said there is no difference between the two, some even brought meditation into it.

Alright, the definition you give an action you performed does not really matter (don't get me wrong it is good to have accurate knowledge) what really matters is the result of the action. 

Is it producing the right result? 

If the purpose why you have the bible is not achieved in your life, either your definition is reading or studying it doesn't matter. Many times result gives name to things, someone who has result can tell you that this particular thing is called this even though you know better you will not argue because you lack result.

READING THE BIBLE

When you say you want to read your Bible you are not neglecting your mind you are reading with your mind you are jotting things down when they look confusing or different from what you have formally believed or known. 

The purpose of reading is to understand the content. Also, It is in Reading you meditate scriptures so it is not wrong to say you are reading the Bible. Never allow anyone to confuse you, what is the purpose of God's word in the life of a believer? If you're achieving that purpose your definition does not matter, are you growing? 

I would like us to lay more for emphasy on studying

WHAT IT MEANS TO STUDY THE BIBLE

The only things that make you study is because you have little knowledge of something or a contrasting knowledge or you find it hard to believe something that you heard, studying is a form of research, you're using the bible and other resources to establish a fact.  If you don't have a culture of reading the Bible you cannot think of studying.

Those things that looks confusing when you read the Bible are the things you study

For example you've read the book of Daniel and you discovered he has an excellent spirit, going back you want to study Daniel to know what he did to be exceptional.

Studying is just an action you take to clear doubts, and to know if what you have been taught or have heard or knew formally is true in scriptures.

If your Bible teacher teaches you something and you go back home to know if what you're taught is true scriptures then what you want to do is study. So studying or reading is not a wrong statement but first you must read the Bible if not, what will you study?  someone told you two of John disciples became Jesus disciple , you want to study because you are not sure but if you have not been reading the Bible you don't know who John is not to talk of the disciples that  became Jesus's desciple 

In conclusion pay attention to Reading of the Bible and stop arguing if reading or studying is correct. When you have read well, you will know what to study. You study what you've an idea of.
